Dr. Hays uses a variety of evidence-based psychotherapy treatment services, to help clients learn effective psychological tools and skills to improve their lives. The majority of interventions involve Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is an empirically supported treatment that focuses on modifying problematic thoughts and behaviors that contribute to and/or maintain emotional and behavioral problems like depression, anxiety, addiction, and other mental and behavioral health conditions.  Prolonged Exposure (PE)  or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT-C) is offered to  treat trauma related symptoms commonly associated with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Treatments are goal directed, and solution focused. Progress is measured objectively at each visit. This provides you and Dr. Hays with useful feedback so that services can be adjusted to best meet your needs.

Behavioral medicine (sometimes referred to as Health Psychology) is an interdisciplinary healthcare field and a specialty area within the field of clinical psychology. Behavioral medicine integrates biological, psychological, behavioral, and social aspects relevant to health and illness. It mainly focuses on utilizing empirically-supported psychological and behavioral change principles to:

• improve health and wellness
•  cope with or reduce illness
•  prevent health conditions 

 Behavioral medicine services are short term, goal oriented, and solution focused so that you can achieve the wellbeing that you are striving for as quickly as possible.

As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Hays  offers assessment and treatment services for many common problems/medical conditions ( obseity, chronic pain, insomnia, diabetes, etc.) which respond well to behavioral medicine approaches.

In order to provide the highest quality care for the unique needs of clients, conducting a comprehensive psychological evaluation is essential. Assessment services are used to help both you and Dr. Hays identify and/or clarify your particular concerns, develop a specialized treatment plan with objective goals, and identify therapeutic targets for treatment. In addition to offering standard psychological assessments, Dr. Hays also offers more specialized assessments such as presurgical psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery candidates, presurgical psychological evaluations for spinal cord stimulator, and disability evaluations. 

Online video conferencing makes it possible for clients from Anywhere in Mississippi to work with Dr. Hays without physical in-office visits.
